Anyone Can Play Golf!
One of the beauties of golf is that people of any age can come out and have fun playing.
How to Get Started
Like any activity, it helps to be familiar with basic information and skills before getting out onto the golf course. The best way to begin is with Get Golf Ready, our learn to play program. Other programs are also available.
Give us a call or stop by for a visit.
What to Bring
When you’re getting started, the most important things to bring are comfortable shoes and an upbeat attitude!
Of course you can bring golf clubs and balls. However, before you make that investment, we provide free access to this equipment while you’re going through our learn to play programs.
What to Wear
Comfort is important. Comfortable shoes (sneakers are great!), shorts and shirt.
At the same time, it is also a good idea to try and “look like a golfer”. While some courses have dress codes, here at Spirit Golf we’re much more flexible. However, the more you look like a golfer, the more you will be treated like a golfer by other patrons.
Where to Go
When visiting any golf course you are always welcome inside the Club House, which is the main building.
After parking your car, just ask any of our staff to point you to the “Golf Shop”. Remember, we are all here to help you!
The “Golf Shop” is where you can get the most information about our programs and Spirit Golf. This is also the normal meeting spot for students and golfers.
While in the Club House you’re welcome to walk around. Be sure to discover the restaurant, locker rooms, snack bar, and outside seating. Quite often, this is where the most fun can be had.
Fast and Fun Learn-to-Golf Programs
Spirit Golf is excited to offer a variety of programs that make learning to play golf fun, fast, and affordable.
Our most popular program is Get Golf Ready. For around $125 per person (may vary by course), you get:
- Five (5) one-hour group lessons
- Instruction on everything needed to play – fundamentals, putting, chipping, full swing and driving.
- Guided on-course playing opportunities
- Free access to golf clubs and balls
- An opportunity to meet others who are new to golf!
Visit any of Spirit Golf’s club websites to see a schedule of programs, or give us call.
Fun and Easy Ways to Play
Golf doesn’t need to be the traditional 18 holes playing in 4 hours or more. There are many ways to play that make it more fun, faster and easier!
At most Spirit Golf courses you can play team games, use our Family Tees, or during select times play just 2, 3 or 4 holes depending on how much time you have.
Just ask us for ideas – we want you to have fun!
What it Etiquette?
Etiquette is one of the traditions of the game. All golfers are asked to be respectful of one-another and act in a way so that everyone can enjoy their day on the course.
Some quick hints to know:
- While it is okay to talk, laugh and have fun, it’s polite to be quiet while other golfers are getting ready to take a shot.
- Leave the golf course as beautiful as you found it.
- When playing golf, it is always more important to “keep pace” than to play well.
- When visiting Spirit Golf we can review this and provide recommendations.
Rules of Golf are NOT Important
That’s right! When starting to play, the “Official Rules” are not important. The Rules are really meant more for golfers who are competing, and you will be sure to absorb the basics over time.
At the start it’s more important to get comfortable with the etiquette and to know how to act like golfer.
In fact, we recommend all new golfers use “It’s Okay Way to Play”
Why is Golf so Fun?
This may be different for everyone, but overall golf is:
- Time with friends and family
- Being outside and enjoying nature
- A great walk in the park and a good work out
- A way to challenge yourself
- A sport and recreation you can play for the rest of your life!
Plus, you’ll be hooked after hitting that perfect shot and experiencing a magical “golfer’s euphoria”!
Acting Like a Golfer is Cool!
That’s right! From dressing the part to driving the cart, playing golf is the hip thing to do….and you’ll have a great time, too!
